Never before has my battery life looked this good since the first time I used these PI8s out of the box. There isn’t a huge difference in left and right battery percentage, and the battery life finally reached 100% on both earphones for the first time in years. I can’t tell you how I’ve dreamed of this happening for over a year before giving up after the exchange yielded the same result. Now, to be fair, I think this is a trick of the app that Bowers & Wilkins must have updated to hide the battery issues, because when I connect, the app tells me 100% but my Google connection and phone info say my Bluetooth device has 94%, which is what has been going on for years, but now it is not in the app.
Do I believe that this battery life finally fixed itself after two years, or do I believe the app is covering up the issues? What is the more likely answer? A miracle after two years without another exchange, or is the app hiding it better thanks to an update? I tend to believe it is probably the app, but I have to at least acknowledge this has happened today at least once. I say that because I haven’t gotten a single update since July, so this is an anomaly out of the blue, especially when just yesterday, the left earphone wouldn’t charge past 96% all day. I have no idea why or what happened today out of the blue, given that the last update happened in July. The only thing I did differently was use wireless charging instead of wall charging for the whole night. We will see, and if that works, I will only use wireless charging for these earphones. However, I still have no idea how wireless charging could fix things when the earphone case wouldn’t charge the earphones previously, and that was without wall or wireless charging. I still need the earphones to charge in the case back to 100%, so that remains the bottom line..
Look the bottom line, the PI8 are amongst the very very best in sound. I can’t argue that against anything, even my Sennheisers or Noble Osprey. It might miss gimmicks and cool feature like most earphones who aren’t name Sony or Samsung but for what it does for sound and transmission case abilities, there is little doubt that you have one of the very best earphones for sound, arguebly period. I knew this when I first got them and wrote more articles about this earphones than any earphone in my life.
When it works like it was promised, and all you are looking for is highest details and best separation in Bluetooth, this is it. But at the same time for me, nothing makes more upset than battery problems, especially from a company that is overcharging for their products and even raised the prices towards it end cycle. I’m sorry but you owe the consumers better results.
