I’ve been a big fan of the Samsung brand and, in particular, the Ultra Galaxy lineup. I’ve been on record saying that I believe the S25 is the greatest phone ever made. And year after year, my smartphone of choice always seems to be a Samsung. So when the Fold 7 dropped, I’ll be honest, I didn’t buy into it at first. I just couldn’t trust the fold era again. I was burned the first time I went there because of the useless first screen. But when I laid hands on it in person, everything changed.

The thing feels absolutely amazing in the hands. The mixture of lightweight with quality build was nailed by Samsung. It’s one thing to make something lightweight, but it’s another thing to make it feel high quality and not cheap. And with how thin this design is alongside the weight, this was extremely hard to pull off, but they did it. The first screen is finally wide enough to use, and the fold screen is absolutely stunning to behold. It is so immersive and personal, way better than anything I’ve experienced before at this quality and speed.

Samsung is just mind-blowing with the accomplishments they continue to bring to the table. Even the music and Bluetooth quality is better on this one than my S25. I don’t know what they did differently, but for some reason my Sony XM6 buds sound even more spacious and imaging feels more pinpoint. It’s not something they advertised, but I’m hearing things better and with more overall immersiveness.
Lastly, to nobody’s surprise were the immersive and impressive results of the fold screen quality. It’s like a movie screen in your palm. It feels like such a privilege to have in your hands that you don’t want to unfold it very much. It’s like your own personal treat for special moments like YouTube, reading, and or movies that this thing truly shines better than anything else. It’s such a beautiful and elegant tech item. I have zero complaints thus far.

But the biggest surprise for me was the battery life. Samsung’s optimization of this Fold and its battery life is on point. Yes, it’s smaller in size, but somehow the differences aren’t that great compared to the S25. I was prepared for it to be less and affect my day-to-day, but it didn’t. Even the camera was still exactly as I remembered on my S25 for the photos I take. And again, these are big accomplishments from Samsung with such a thin and light design.

Tmobile allowed me to send back my s25 for credit and I didn’t think I would do this until I knew for sure I wanted the Fold 7. But as of right now , the Samsung Galaxy s25 is in a paper package inside a box, after being reset. My favored phone this year is now the Fold 7. And yes I know this year we are going to get the wide version of the Fold and even a wide Apple iPhone that the world will go crazy over. And I started to hold off to get one of those but I changed my mind because the passport wide version just doesn’t work for my eyes for a phone. Or something that will go inside my pocket as easy as the Fold 7. So I decided not to wait and I’m glad I did. My wife and I both will be rocking the Fold 7s from this point. I see nothing more to gain that I need especially with me enjoying the narrow screen like my Sony Xperia I VI. So the Fold 7 is pretty natural even though I’m coming from the s25 as my most recently used phone.
