Garmin…it’s a name we all know, even if you aren’t a fan. Why? Because it’s a name that is respected among runners, athletes, swimmers, bikers, and the like. The ability to track and track accurately is what it’s known for. They are trusted among millions, and they deserve it. I’ve been walking so much lately, to the point that it’s my getaway for peace. So I decided it was time to increase my walking to jogging and running, but I wanted to do it slowly.

Like many of you, smartwatches were the obvious step we took. I did so only to find out that the battery life on smartwatches absolutely sucks. I hated having to charge my watch every 3 days or so. So, doing my research, there is one name that always pops up, and that’s Garmin. So I started off with the Garmin 165. I thought it was almost perfect, especially coming from Samsung Galaxy watches. It had an AMOLED screen, bright and pretty, and had amazing features for workouts and runs. It was under $250 too, which was always good.

But the one thing that kept me from fully committing myself was the size. In other videos I saw on the Internet, even in the picture I took above, the watch looks perfect in size for my wrist, but in real life, it’s a tad too small. It reminds me of a girl’s watch, but it wasn’t at 43mm. But I think what hurt it the most was the bezel that made the screen smaller in certain watch faces.

So I exchanged it for the Forerunner 255. It didn’t have a touchscreen, but it was bigger, and I loved that aspect about it. I also loved the feel of the buttons and the watch itself. Outdoors, the screen lit up like fireworks, even in bright sun. It was so pretty and vibrant. But unfortunately, the screen it had made indoor visibility absolutely horrible because it wasn’t AMOLED. Every watch face looked horrible. And if you used the light, it washed out the colors like you were back in 1980. Every day that I wasn’t outside, it was horrible to read my watch. So it went back too..

Enter the 965! This was the watch that gave me everything I needed and wanted. Battery life was superior, and the AMOLED screen was amazing to look at indoors or outside. A touch screen! The quality of the buttons and feel of the material on the watch, along with the sapphire glass wrapped with titanium bezels, just made the watch that much more appealing. No huge thick bezels, and it was 47mm, which is my limit for watch faces..

It looked great on my wrist in any lighting or at any angle. I love the watch faces I can pick, as they look and serve amazing purposes. I customize it too. Basically, it’s everything I loved about the first, only bigger, without the doomed look of some of their other models like the 265. Unfortunately, having dual-band GPS and extra battery life with a touchscreen and AMOLED screen with sapphire glass comes at a cost. This watch was, of course, more than the others combined at $499. But hey, it’s not as expensive as an Apple Watch Ultra or the Samsung Galaxy Watch, and yet it lasts longer than them and looks better than them. So I’m good. Hopefully, this is my last trip to the return boxing for Amazon.
